Your RV’s kitchen is outfitted with the appliances you need to prepare delicious and healthy meals on the road. However, that doesn’t mean that there isn’t any room for improvement. In order to get the most out of your meal prep, why not add some useful accessories to your camper’s kitchen to make your life even easier?

Independence RV, located in Winter Garden, is your Florida RV dealer for parts and service, serving Greater Orlando and The Villages. We’ve drawn up this list of useful cooking accessories that you’ll want to get for your RV immediately.

1. Stovetop or Sink Cover

Food-preparation space is often at a premium in even the biggest of RV kitchens. One great way to maximize your counter space is to get some covers for your appliances. A stovetop cover allows you to cut up vegetables and fruit if you’re not using the stove, while a sink cover goes over the sink and gives you even more space to prepare food. You can often fold up and stow these covers away when not in use.

2. Slow Cooker

Whatever type you get, whether it’s a Crock Pot or an Instant Pot, a slow cooker is designed to make meal preparation a breeze. Simply plug it in, fill up the cooker with vegetables, stock and meats, turn it on and let it bubble away. At the end of the day, you’ve got yourself a hot and delicious dinner. Slow cookers can be used to prepare chilis, soups, stews, cuts of meat, pastas and even desserts, so this item is a must-have for any RVer.

3. Portable Grill

If it’s a hot day, you probably don’t want to heat up the interior of your RV even more by turning on the oven. A portable grill lets you cook outside under your RV’s awning in the fresh air. Prepare ribs, fish, chicken, kabobs, shrimp, burgers, hot dogs and more with a grill that you can easily store in your exterior storage bay. Some RV's have gas ports you can connect to your portable gas grill instead of hauling around an extra propane tank. Some of the Newmar RVs have portable induction cooktops that can be removed from the kitchen and used outside for grilling.

4. French Press

Your average coffee maker isn’t great for an RV, due to how much space it takes up and how it requires a power source. A French press is a much easier solution for making coffee on the road, as it’s easy to clean and easy to use: just put in your ground coffee and hot water, let it steep and push down the plunger to press the grinds down to the bottom for a fresh cup of coffee.

5. Stackable or Collapsible Bowls & Cups

Storage space in an RV kitchen can also be limited, so anything that you can stack or collapse is good. Mixing bowls and measuring cups are two items that can take up a lot of space if they don’t stack up or collapse. The same goes for pots and pans that fit inside each other. Independence RV has a wide variety of these items in our Parts Store. Stop in and take a look or shop online for what you need to complete your kitchen inventory.
